The PRS SE Tremonti Custom is an upgraded version of the original Tremonti SE that has the same great features plus a full depth body, tremolo bridge, and a flame maple top. Now with a similar body to the SE245, the SE Tremonti Custom fulfils the needs of fast playing rhythm and lead guitarists who need a comfortable, speedy neck and clear cutting rhythm sounds.
Like a majority of the PRS SE guitars this has been designed to get you as close to the tone nirvana of the PRS Core line without having the break the bank. Matching the amazing PRS Mark Tremonti is no small feat but they have managed to do an incredible job getting that feel and tone into this guitar.
Made with a mahogany body topped with a beautiful piece of quilted maple this guitar looks like nothing else in the PRS SE line. It does however manage to capture the signature PRS feel and tone that you really want with a guitar like this. The neck has been carved to a Wide Thin carve to suit shredders and rhythm players alike with its mahogany back and rosewood fretboard.
SE Tremonti Pickups
These pickups are the same as the original Tremonti pickups, but wound in South Korea. They are the highest output pickup that PRS make, specifically for Tremonti's blistering playing style and chugging riffs.
The neck pickup is slightly lower output and has a sweet singing clean sound, and the bridge is where you'll get all your heat from. So you could use the neck pickup for the clean verse parts and alter to the bridge (See what I did there?) for your heavier riffs.
Mark Tremonti is one of rock's leading guitarists. As the guitarist of Alter Bridge and Creed, he has met extraordinary success and continues to grow as both a guitar player and songwriter. While Creed was on tour in support of their first record, My Own Prison, Mark was contacted by PRS and asked if he would like to try one of their guitars.
"I jumped at the idea to play one of PRS' guitars. PRS was one of those guitars that I could never afford in high school or college and had always wanted to play one." PRS sent Mark a McCarty model which he instantly fell in love with. He played that guitar exclusively for a while, but ultimately wanted a guitar that was more suited to his playing style.
Mark Tremonti began to collaborate with PRS on his dream guitar that would soon become the Mark Tremonti Signature Model. He needed pickups that were a little more aggressive and could compliment his rhythm playing which contains a lot of palm muting. The neck of the guitar needed to accommodate his style, influenced by thrash metal, shred, and traditional blues.
