"Get to know your guitars history "

Rich Renken - General Manager of Tyler Guitars Words :

As you know, this guitar is based on Dann's Tyler modded '64. I flew to Nashville and grabbed the guitar from Dann and took it to Joe Glaser's shop and took it all the way apart to see exactly what Jim did back in '82. This guitar has stuff that will not be on any other Tyler. We want this to be for the cat who wants that Dann 80s/90s thing. Soon after this guitar, Jim started doing other things and made subtle changes to future mods and then Studio Elits and current Tylers. But for this re-creation, I wanted to do it just like Dann's. After we built the first prototype, I flew back to Nashville and a/b'd the two guitars. He Loved it.

That said, there are some quirks and features you need to understand.

1. It has a JB with 50mm spacing so it does not line up with the strings, Just like Dann's.
2. It has neck/middle Duncan Hot Stacks that are weaker than the bridge version we use now. Just like Dann's
3. Because the stacks are weaker, the bridge pickup is very low to balance with the stacks. Just like Dann's.
4. This guitar has a Tyler/Demeter preamp that has a few dB boost from bypass to on. Just like Dann's.
5. The switches are series DOWN and Parallel UP, that is the opposite of what we have done since just after this guitar was built. Why? You got it. Just Like Dann's
6. The midboost is under the middle "tone" knob. All the way down is 1 and the tone knob looks crooked. Just like Dann's.
7. Unlike Dann's, the mid boost bypass is under the push/push Volume but it is bypassed in the up position.
8. Under the tone is a push/push pot for neck/bridge on. This gives you the ability to get to tele and all three pickup type sounds.

There are a few differences between this and Dann's '64 that are just better. It has 22 frets. It has a recessed Floyd. It has a battery box. And most importantly, it has a Tyler Headstock with Jim's California Signature logo and Dann's Signature Logo on back."
