SUHR MODERN SATIN
There are many reasons to love African Okoume: it is beautiful, it sounds great, and it is lightweight. The Modern Satin was created to celebrate the sound and beauty of this tone wood.
The thin layer of satin finish allow the neck and body to resonate freely, producing a wide variety of tones from warm articulate Jazz lines to tight aggressive Metal riffs. Modern Satin’s tone is always loud and clear.
IMPECCABLE QUALITY, LEGENDARY PERFORMANCE
The Modern Satin is equipped with our Modern Elliptical neck profile. Rolled edges and a straight 14” fingerboard radius offers an extremely comfortable shape. The African Okoume neck is finished in satin, which provides the smooth feel of natural wood as well as protection from moisture.
NECK PROFILE
MODERN ELLIPTICAL (.800″-.850″)
The Modern Elliptical neck is a fast and sleek shape with enough girth for you to really grab onto when you want to dig in for wild string bends or playing chords.
FRETS
Jumbo Stainless Steel (.057″ x .110″)
Stainless steel frets offer silky smooth bending and long-lasting playability. Every Suhr receives a PLEK fret dress, ensuring the best possible string action, playability and intonation.
SCULPTED HEEL
The sculpted heel of the Modern allows for easy access to all 24 frets. For optimum tone and stability, the neck joint must not be too tight or too loose, therefore all of our neck pockets are precisely fitted by hand, by expert craftsmen.
MODERN BODY SHAPE
The Modern shape has a unique asymmetrical body that balances superbly with the extended 24-fret neck. Fast, sleek and sexy looking, the Modern shape will feel right at home to players who were weaned on the popular and innovative shapes that came into vogue in the 80’s.
TONE WOODS
African Okoume has pleasant highs, strong mids, and balanced lows which makes it a popular choice among rock players for its thick, focused tone that cuts well in a mix. It’s sonically similar to Mahogany with a slightly brighter and more open tone.
BODY FINISH
The unique open grain Modern Satin finishing process produces a razor thin finish that truly allows the woods to resonate and ring as much as possible, making for an incredibly lively and expressive instrument.
RAW WOOD FEEL
The raw wood feel of the beautiful, open grained satin finish, gets out of the way so you can feel more connected with the instrument.
HARDWARE & ELECTRONICS
